I have just been away for a lovely weekend away with my husband.
He booked it as a surprise for our 10th wedding anniversary.
We went back to the Quorn Country House hotel in Leicestershire which is where we had our wedding reception on the 7th June 2003.
I haven’t been back there since we were married so it was lovely to go back.
On arrival there were flowers, chocolates and champagne in our room and we had been upgraded to an executive room.
The hotel hasn’t changed at all, the grounds are beautiful and as the weather was nice we were able to sit by the river enjoying a few drinks in the afternoon then we walked into the village of Quorn for some lunch before returning to get ready for dinner.
We had a 3 course a la carte dinner in the Shire’s restaurant which was superb.
The food was delicious and as good as any meal I have enjoyed on a cruise ship.
However not everyone was impressed and the couple on the table next to ours managed to complain about every single course before making a dramatic exit from the restaurant
It was quite amusing though and the staff didn’t look too concerned as I am sure they realise everyone else was happy and enjoying their meal, there is always one I suppose !!
