Introducing Thomson Discovery

Thomson have recently announced they have purchased the Splendour of the Seas from Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. The ship will join the Thomson fleet next year and will be renamed the Thomson Discovery.

The Discovery will be the largest in Thomson’s fleet at 70,000 GRT and I am sure will be a very popular addition to their brand.
Thomson represent good value cruising and cater to the British market. This means that the entertainment is more to our taste with everything from west end style shows to British comedians. Anyone who has been on an American ship will know that the comedy is very different to ours, in fact I don’t usually bother going.
Thomson also include the tips which is something I think all cruise lines should do. Another thing we Brits don’t like doing is tipping so at least that is all taken care of for us on Thomson.
The kids facilities are very good. If I take a summer holiday I like to go with Thomson because their children’s clubs and activities are first class and the staff are fantastic with them so you know on a Thomson cruise it will be exactly the same.
The food is of a very good standard with the usual buffet and A La Carte options which I have been told are better than some of the larger well known cruise lines.
On this ship there will be 7 dining venues and the main restaurant will be a two tier restaurant. For the first time there will also be a Chef’s Table. So if you are celebrating a special occasion or just fancy spoiling yourself this would be a perfect choice.

For entertainment there will be a rock climbing wall, mini golf, spa and gymnasium, theatre, casino, adults only solarium, indoor and oudoor pool and many bars and restaurants to enjoy your favourite tipple.

With regional airports to choose and lots of exciting itineraries Thomson Discovery is definitely worth considering.
