There is a lot of concern about travel at the moment following the outbreak of Ebola.
I have been asked many times recently whether it is safe to travel on a cruise and the answer to this is yes. The cruise Lines priority will always be for the safety of their passengers and crew and they will not visit any Countries that are considered to be a health risk.
Screening is already in place at Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester airports.
The cruise lines already screen passengers at embarkation and you are asked to declare any raised temperatures , sickness etc so hopefully everyone will be responsible enough to be honest when completing the health declaration. If deemed necessary further tests will be made before being allowed to board.
P&O have said they are currently screening all passengers and crew and anyone who has travelled to Liberia, Sierra Leona and Guinea will be denied boarding.
Additionally anyone who is suspected of having treated or been in contact with anyone diagnosed or suspected of having Ebola within 21 days will also be denied boarding.
Most cruise destinations will not pose more risk to you than if you were to stay here so with all of the additional measures in place i am sure it is as safe to travel now as ever.
My thoughts go to our brave medics who are being sent to the affected areas to try and put a stop to this terrible disease.
