No more discounting ?

P&O, Cunard and Princess were the first cruise line brands to reduce commissions and put a stop to travel agents discounting their prices.

At first I thought this was wrong

As travel agents we work very hard to recommend and advertise these companies and I must admit I did think that it would have a huge impact on our business.

However I couldn’t have been more wrong.

What this actually did was promote an even playing field for all companies which meant that our customers are able to buy a good service rather than spending hours searching for prices and ultimately booking with the lowest fare.
Most people who I have spoken with have said they have found it a relief that they can now book with a company who offers the best servive without worrying that they have missed out on a better deal.

At cruise.co.uk we like to think we offer an excellent service. I have worked for companies before who are only interested in taking your bookings and then offer a poor customer after sales service.

I think we have all been faced with the likes of Little Britain character Carol and her famous “computer says no”

More recently Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruises have followed suit and hopefully we will see the same benefits there.
