My 2 weeks in Orlando.

With the everyday stresses of life it is sometimes hard to please your family all of the time. With juggling work around shift patterns we can go for days even a week and have no quality family time. As our daughter is now reaching eighteen and finding her way in the world we both realised we had not spent any length of time together for over eighteen months. So when we all decided on a family holiday did we do the right thing putting the ball in her court so to speak.

Orlando ! Orlando ! Disney! she shouted and my stomach sank, not because I do not like it but we have been lucky enough to have done it before. My husband being a keen golfer and knowing how good and cheap it is to play out there jumped at the chance. As much as I tried to pop in a mini cruise as Port Canaveral and even Tampa are a stones throw they would have none of it. So compromise was met.me mick and nic

No parks every day. Time to shop and chill and a good meal out every evening no American junk food. This worked much better than I had imagined.
Tee times were very early giving me and our Daughter a lie in then breakfast and ready for off on hubbys return.

We tried to find different areas of Orlando away from the mass market and found a beautiful place called Celebration, although this was once owned by Disney it was no longer. It was very Colonial with a massive lake with loads of Alligaitors and some really unusual birds. We ate that evening at The Tavern a Boston Fish Restaurant chain it was amazing.

We did do the parks a little more often than I intended but this time I actually did go on some rides, nothing to scary though. Test Track and Soaring at Epcot blew my mind and Thunder Mountain in Magic Kingdom was about as fast as I could manage. It was lovely see all the small children waiting to meet the characters and I remembered doing the same when our Daughter was little. I was shocked when she said she wanted to meet the Princesses but she insisted you are never too old. Of course I had to go in with her.

Because we did it at our own pace and made time to relax I really enjoyed my break. The only thing that could have made it better was a 3/4 night Bahamas cruise.
