Well did Anthem meet my expectations or was I left disappointed ? OH MY WORD YES! YES! YES!. Royal Caribbean will always have a special little place in my heart as my very first cruise was my honeymoon on Majesty of the Seas way back when. Then along came Celebrity and that wowed me for my 50th Birthday so Anthem to me is the very best of both of these two mixed together to give you an amazing ship with something for everyone.
It was a beautiful sunny morning when we arrive at the City Terminal and we were like children on Christmas Day when she came into view. Nothing better than a brand new ship sparkling in the sunshine. The boarding process was so chilled and we were on in no time at all. All I could say was wow she evens smells new. The Esplanade that greets you looks like a designer shopping mall with coffee shops, bars and all types of designer outlets to fit any pocket. Even Michael Korrs..
Our cabin was a deluxe balcony with loads of space and very swish the drawer and wardrobe handles were all sparkly too. We set off in search of our colleagues and to explore this ship stopping at the pool bar for a wee drink from here we could see the North Star and with the sky so electric blue it shone in all its glory
We experienced the bumper cars, bionic bar, flow rider and the I Fly simulator, although the last two I only watched. That afternoon was the Naming of Anthem so the vip’s were all suited and booted and attended an amazing event. Bagpipes played and created a magical atmosphere . The formal dinner followed and we all eat in different venues but the menu was the same. It gave us a choice of dishes from all the restaurants included in the Dynamic Classic Package.
I had starters from American Icon, main from Silk and dessert from Chic yum.
We then headed to the much talked about Two 70 to see what all the fuss was about. And again another wow it goes from a ocean view relaxation area through the day
To a state of the art entertainment venue at night. The floor to ceiling windows transform to screens that made me feel like I was travelling through space one minute and on an exotic island the next.
The next was the ship tour we managed to view all the different types of cabins first hand from the virtual balcony to the Grand, Royal and loft suites some even had hammocks, hot tubs and wicker chairs on the balcony just right to chill out.
I know Royal Caribbean’s prices may be higher than some cruise lines but you do get what you pay for. I will be booking my own family holiday on the Quantum Class as soon as funds allow.
