Whilst making a recent welcome home call I was talking to a lovely couple who had just returned from their very first Cruise. When I asked how did it go I was told that they enjoyed it after a pretty stressful start.
On asking what happened was told “We were on the Oriana the weekend of the very bad storms in in UK. The crossing was very choppy to say the least and we only experienced the cabin for the first couple of days from an horizontal position. Then whilst having dinner a few nights later it suddenly all went very quiet then black for a few minutes. We were then told that that was a fire in the engine rooms so rushed for our warm weather clothes just in case. We were then told thank goodness that it was all under control and no evacuation will be required.
On returning from our first port of call we were told that the Captain feels we may struggle as a severe weather warning is in place. An our into our journey we had to return to port as a matter of life or death for a passenger who needed urgent medical attention. (Glad to say they are safe and well). After this things seemed to settle down.”
On asking would you consider another cruise very sheepishly I was told “Yes of course maybe just a different time of year and crossing”.
I am currently working on their request now. This could have been one of those make or break situations but I am so happy to welcome them to the Amazing World of Us Cruise Addicts and join our happy team.
