Cruise Ship’s good deed’s

Well it has been a busy time for good deed’s performed by passengers on a cruise or by actual cruise ships.  In May a Police officer based in Biscester, near Oxfordshire in the U.K. was holidaying on board Royal Caribbeans Independence of the Seas.  He noticed a waiter/pool attendant pull the lifeless body of a child from the Lido deck pool.  He rushed over as know one was applying CPR to the child. After asking another holiday maker to help with CPR the child was air lifted to a French Hospital where he made a full recovery.

This scenario has happened before on cruise ships which beg’s the question should cruise lines have life guards around the pool areas?

Holland America ship The Veendam  has recently aided in a unique rescue that involved a pilot who ditched his plane after experiencing mechanical issues.  The Pilot was in a single engine air craft  flying in air space around Maui in Hawaii.  He bailed out of the airplane and managed to scramble into a life raft.  Crew members provided the pilot with food and accommodations until he was able to disembark today in Lahaina, Hawaii.

There have been quite a lot of life saving reports involving cruise lines, who have aided with capsized fishing vessels and refugees from war torn countries.  This pilot was lucky that The Veendam was in the area.  I bet his stories on the dinner table were captivating!
