Top Six Cruise Bars At Sea

Let’s face it we’re all partial to a few drinks and nibbles when were on a cruise.

To be honest in the past, cruise ships were a bit boring when it came to bars on board.

Thank goodness these days they’ve all become very posh and elaborate, all trying to outdo the last.

The other interesting thing is, traditionally, cruise lines limited you’re eating options to restaurants but the big thing now is to offer snacks alongside your drinks.

In fact, half of the bars on my list of offer a chance to nosh or even to settle for a light meal.

Any way here are my choices from sixth to first…………

So,as Bully would say…………Iiiiiiiiiin sixth………….

NCL H20 Spice bar

Spice H2O’ pool and bar.

There is a giant video screen in this bar which is flanked by two of the biggest speakers that you have ever seen.  This area has a very small aft adult plunge-pool which turns into a dance floor/dance-club at night, which NCL call an ‘Ibiza style party scene’.

It certainly can get lively and crowded when the weather is good.

And in 5th place : MSC, Splendida and Fantasia

L’Enoteca Wine Bar :

The L’Enoteca’s has the most adventurous range of Italian wines and a wide selection of tapas plates of meats, cheeses and sweets.

And in 4th place:

Cunard: Golden Lion Pub,

Now this is a real British classic pub style and there is no other ship that can come close to what Cunard offer.

Not only can you find Guinness, Boddingtons, and Bass on draught, there’s a solid, slightly more offbeat variety of bottled brews, like Old Speckled Hen and Spitfire Real Ale.

Another winner is the food: It is real fish and chips and believe me it is top-notch.

And in 3rd place :

Celebrity, Solstice :

The Vodka bar and the Martini bar : Celebrity’s signature Martini Bar has a frosted bar and more than one hundred varieties of vodka as well as martinis.

A small alcove called Crush has an ice-filled table where you can enjoy caviar and vodka tasting or host a private party.

And in 2nd place: NCL: Norwegian Epic

Ice Bar :

Ice bar says it all; it’s freezing in here so make sure you take some thermals. It’s a once in a life time experience but not to be missed.

The air in this unique bar is kept at a constant 17 degrees, the room holds twenty five passengers and everything is made of ice, even your glasses, so make sure you are drinking fast so it doesn’t go al wishy-washy.

You can stay in there for up to 45 minutes but trust me it’s that cold I doubt if you would last that long before you freeze.

It’s sponsored by Svedka, so expect its namesake vodka in all the concoctions (the $20 fee gets you two drink coupons).

You can enjoy a concoction of Svedka Citron, Cointreau and blue Curacao.

So in  1st place is :

RCCL, Oasis Of The Seas and Allure Of The Seas :

The Rising Tide : WOW! The world’s most expensive elevator’!

It’s more like a space pod to be honest, but believe it or not it is a real bar that’s moves between three decks, the Royal Promenade and Central Park.

You’ll find a standard selection of cocktails and beers.

What are your  favourite bars on board a cruise ?

  1. Not because of free nibbles, but my wife and I always enjoyed a drink and the occasional dance in Olive and Twist on Independence of the Seas. On some nights the views through the large windows surrounding this bar were magical. Some magical sunsets and stunning electric storms. A great place to meet up with friends & acquaintances made during the cruise.

  2. Can you please find us a Cruise deal for Canary Islands leaving Late September 2014, we need to be back by 19th October 2014
