My Travels Around The World !!

As most of my customers know I have been in the travel industry for well over 25 years now. One of the advantages of being in the industry is having the pleasure of travelling to a lot of different, far off destinations. So with this in mind I thought this week I would give you some tips of places to go and things to see.

This week I’m going to start with Singapore,

Singapore is as diverse as it is harmonious, with so much to see and do. You can enjoy the sights and sounds at various cultural precincts, such as Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. If you prefer the bright city lights and being in the middle of the hustle and bustle, there are numerous shopping malls, museums, dining and entertainment hotspots to choose from. If you’re a shopaholic like myself you need to make a visit to Orchard Road which stretches for miles, it is actually 2.2 kilometre-long boulevard that is the retail and entertainment hub of Singapore. lf you prefer to party the night away at the Clarke Quay or Boat Quay areas, both of which offer a selection of nightlife activities. The other thing that will strike you most about Singapore is its amazing different dining options from Peranakan to Chinese, Indian to Malay, fusion and more, you’ll be totally spoilt for choice.
Places To Visit :
The most famous hotel in Singapore, Raffles Hotel’s, also known for “The Long Bar”, home to the legendary Singapore Sling, originally concocted by Ngiam Tong Boon, one of its bartenders. You cannot visit Singapore without making a visit at this beautiful hotel and just to experience the very well-known Singapore Sling.
The Botanic Gardens, there are over 1000 species and 2,000 hybrids are now found in the Gardens’ collection, with about 600 species and hybrids on display. Every year, more vibrant and enduring hybrids are added. The National Orchid Garden offers a permanent showcase, the largest display of tropical orchids in the world.

Singapore Flyer is the world’s largest Ferris wheel (165meters high) . It offers a breath-taking 360 ° panoramic view of Singapore. It is located in Marina Bay, with a wide selection of shops and food outlets. There is a central atrium that leads to a lush tropical forest, and an outdoor theatre.

Singapore Cable Car presents a bird’s eye view of Singapore’s city, the harbour and Sentosa Island. They view from the top is breath taking but the cable car is not for the faint hearted, being honest I couldn’t do this it was way too high for me.

Electronics :Singapore has the widest range of electronic gadgets. There are two massive multi-storey malls which are, Funan Digitalife Mall and Sim Lim Square, they have everything imaginable. At Sim Lim Square especially, good deals can be had with some serious bartering, and if you pay in cash they will knock off a few extra pounds.

Getting around Singapore is easy, many of the places of interest are within walking distance of each other, and the best way to see them is on foot. When you have to pay for transport  you will find that the MRT (Singapore’s equivalent of the subway, tube and metro) is your best option. It’s efficient and affordable.
