Big News !

Well I will have to be honest the cruise industry is looking very interesting at minute. With Royal Caribbean launching the Quantum class of ships and also P&O with the Britannia, it really does seem a bit of a war of the biggest and best cruise liners at the minute.

To make it even more interesting I was reading an article earlier today with regards to Sir Richard Branson, he has announced that he will be dipping his fingers into more pies but this time it will be in the cruise industry. He is planning to shake up the cruise industry and reshape customers’ expectations of what a cruise experience can be and bring a brand new fresh approach. His new venture is going to be called Virgin Cruises, they are looking at building two “world class” cruise ships that will be based in Florida.

Richard Branson & Virgin Atlantic Celebrate 10 Years Of Flying To Las Vegas

Sir Richard Branson track record is unbelievable, he is renowned to succeed in his ventures which he has such as Virgin Airlines, he has over 400 business worldwide, including travel, entertainment, lifestyle, food and beverages, media, telecommunications the list is endless to be honest.

To head the management of Virgin Cruises, Branson recruited Tom McAlpin, a founding member of the Disney Cruise Line launch team who also served as its president. Tom McAlpin will be chief executive officer of Virgin Cruises, which the company says will be headquartered in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.

In a statement Branson said “We plan to shake up the cruise industry and deliver a holiday that customers will absolutely love.” My question is what is he going to bring to the cruise industry that will be any different to what we already have ?

Is he going to go bigger and better, maybe offer more for value for money ? Or will he go more like Regent Cruises ?  We just don’t know as yet.

I wonder what the massive shake up is all about, it is not like Royal Caribbean / Celebrity / Princess / P&O and the rest of the cruise liners don’t already offer great prices and brilliant services on board. So what can Virgin cruises offer that is any different ?? mmm well it looks like we will have to wait and see. As soon as I have more updates I will let you all know.
