Large Cruise Ships Are Allowed Back Into Venice.

It has been announced that an Italian Court has suspended restrictions to allow large cruise ships back into Venice lagoons. This is months after the Italian government decided to ban large ships because of the environmental damage they were doing do to the World Heritage-listed city.

The ruling was passed last November stating that from this year they would ban any ships over 40,000 tons and then from January 2015 any ships over 96,00 tons.
The reason for this ruling was because there was insufficient time for them to find alternative routes for the ships. Venice is working on plans to open a new shipping route into the city which will avoid cruise liners from sailing along its ancient canals, but these have not yet been approved.
The suspension will last until June, when the issue will be discussed again.
The decision was a successful outcome for the cruise ship industry, but so many cruise liners have actually swapped ships around to comply with their original ruling, I wonder what will happen now.
Do you think large ships should be allowed back into Venice Or should they keep to their original ruling ?
What are your thoughts on this ?
