Saga Introduces “Spirit of Discovery”

I have just returned from 2 nights on Saga’s newest addition “Spirit of Discovery” Vip agent event and what can I say she’s stunning…

She is only a small ship at 58,250 tonnes accommodating 999 passengers, and costing £346 million. She is the first of two ships to be built especially for Saga her sister ship Spirit of Adventure will be launched in 2020. The interior is beautiful the interior designers have created a classic elegant ship. She has a modern luxury feel and will not leave you disappointed.

She is bringing a new era of luxury cruising offering a boutique ship with a ‘distinctly British experience’ tailored to perfectly meet Saga’s customer needs. The saga market is aimed at the 50 plus cruiser and thankfully I fit into that age range as it’s definitely a ship I would like to embark on for my own holiday.

She is the first Saga ship to have a purpose-built theatre ‘The Playhouse’ which will hold 444 guests and the performance from the onboard entertainment team was brilliant. 

Her main dining room The Grand Dining Room offers breakfast and dinner, and possibly one of the best afternoons tea’s at sea I have sampled. The Buffet restaurants ‘The Grill’ has a stunning Verandah to enjoy the dining outdoors. There are three further dining options which are ‘Coast to Coast’ a specialty fish restaurant. East to West offering Asian Cusine last but not least, she has onboard ‘The Club by Jools’ created in association with Jools Holland Obe it’s an elegant steakhouse with a 50’s style club. The good onboard is exceptional and I couldn’t fault from traditional   Fish chips and mushy peas to King Orkney Scallops and Highland Venison cooked perfectly.
