A Royal Visitor Docks on the Tyne
I was recently lucky enough to visit Cunard’s Queen Victoria when she visited the North East with 3 colleagues from Cruise.co. here’s a little insight into what she has to offer.
The Port of Tyne is popular with round the UK sailings or sailings heading north to the Fjords, however not very often featured on A Cunard itinerary so I jumped at the chance to see her. She has a very elegant, grand feel with her beautiful atrium having a staircase which would be the focal point of that formal night photo.
She has four dining rooms where club dining can be eaten and these are depending on the standard of cabin you have booked the Britannia is the main dining room for inside, outside and balcony class cabins. Then there is the club dining room for club balcony guests this one I must say was possibly my favorite a more intimate dining venue with a modern contemporary interior. Then there are the Princess and Queens grill dining rooms for the suite guests, these again like the club smaller intimate dining rooms which were adjacent to the suite lounge only accessible for quite guests. There is an English pub on board that served traditional pub lunches, it had a very authentic feel and also severed traditional ales. The buffet area was also bright and airy. I got to sample the main dining and must say the food was amazing with a good choice to suit all tastes.
The aft pool had a lovely seating area which would be where you would find me defiantly on a sail away with a cocktail in hand. It had a grill area and plenty of seating. There was also a main pool with plenty of shade for those who like the fresh air but not necessarily sitting in the sun.
She had a lovely main theatre with boxes that you could reserve and also a lovely ballroom which had a very elegant feel. There are lots of options for entertainment whether you want to see a show or would like to do a spot of ballroom dancing you don’t have to worry about not having a partner they have dance partners onboard to whisk you round that dance floor.
I must say she was a lovely ship with lots of traditional features. I can see why Cunard has a lot of repeat customers.
I have had the pleasure of being on board 3 ships in 3 weeks next time it’s the turn of Silversea check back to see what I thought of Silver Wind.

We have been on a 2 week cruise on the Queen Victoria and this ship is outstanding and all the features on board are truly traditional and the service and quality of all the staff was well worth the price we paid .
