This week’s blog is something slightly different and more of an SOS for help from you with regards to helping me plan for my forthcoming trip. Me and my Fiance, Nick, are off on the Crown Princess departing on the 22nd April for 14 nights and need some advice on what to do in the ports. We are not big shore excursion people and are quite happy to go off for the day with a map and our feet to get us round. But on this cruise we are wondering what advice/tips/must see/do’s you would recommend?
My itinerary is as follows and we have been to Gibraltar a couple of times so done the cable car, the Barbary apes and St Michael’s Cave.

I have looked at excursions with Princess Cruises (but all seem rather expensive), and have also checked our recommended company www.cruisingexcursions.com.
Our thoughts at the moment are – Barcelona to take the hop on hop off bus, Corsica to walk round on our own. Rome – I have heard you can take the train into Rome which takes an hour, has anyone down this and is it easy to do or best to do a shore excursion? In Livorno as we would like to see both Florence and Pisa (I have been before but Nick hasn’t) to take a shore excursion through cruising excurisons, Genoa and Marseille we have no idea about, and Gibraltar we will probably just walk round the town unless anyone has any other suggestions.
So any advice/tips anyone can give us would be gratefully received.
Look forward to reading your suggestions and have a good couple of weeks
Kerry xx
