Dinner at Chops Grille

Whilst on board our Navigator of the Seas cruise in October, we decided before we sailed that this time we would like to dine in Chop Grille – we had heard many good things about the food in this restaurant, and as my partner likes steak, we thought out of all the specialty restaurants that this would be the perfect one to go for.

We opted to prebook and pay via our cruise planner before we departed, so we could pick our preferred date and time. However we found on our sailing that you could easily have booked once on board as they were trying to fill the restaurant and even had a special offer on.

Chops Grille is located on deck 15 and you enter via the windjammer and then on your right it is in a seperate room.  We were shown to a table of 2 by the window  and then given the menus to choose from.

I opted for the Goats Cheese Salad to start with and Nick had the Mushroom Soup, both of which were delicious and could easily have had more of these as main courses:

For the mains we both opted for the Grilled NY 12oz Strip Steak, peppercorn sauce, with truffled french fries, roasted mushrooms and truffled corn. We asked for our steaks to be cooked to Medium. The steaks melted in your mouth and could easily cut through the steak.

Then for dessert I opted for the Huckleberry Cheesecake – which was delicious but I didn’t have enough room to finish it

Overall we had a lovely meal (which was worth the cover charge), the ambience in the restuarant was good, but for me was a little too dark and needed to either turn the dimmer switch up slightly or to turn on another light. My main surprise was that despite having paid a cover charge to dine in Chops, for some things on the menu like the porterhouse steak there was a further additional charge -whereas on Princess in the Crown grill this was included in the cover charge if you wanted it.

Have you dined in Chops Grille before and what did you think? Do you dine in the Specilaty restaurants or stick to the main dining room?

Have a good couple of weeks -and Merry Christmas

Kerry
