Celebrity cruises have a fantastic campaign at the moment and customers can receive a choice of benefits. Either the Classic Drinks Package free of charge or free gratuities or up to $300 on board credit on the majority of sailings. On European sailings you can choose 2 of these 3 offers.
However what is the drinks package actually worth and what does it include – which freebie offers the best deal?
The Classic Drinks Package includes…..
All beers up to $6 per serving
All cocktails up to $8 per serving
All wines by the glass up to $8 per serving
15% discount on wine by the bottle
Freshly squeezed and bottled juices
Premium coffees and teas
Non premium bottled water
Soft and canned drinks – Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Fanta, Orange
For the above prices there is a good selection of beers, wines and cocktails.
Celebrity normally sell this package at $50.60 per day so on a 14 night cruise it would cost you $708 approximately £460 per person for the duration of your cruise and at this price I think it depends on how much you drink as to whether it is worth paying the price. But even if you are not a heavy drinker the costs of soft drinks, coffees and a few glasses of wine with dinner soon add up. They charge $2.50 for a bottle of water or soft drink, $3.75 for a specialty coffee and $5.50 per glass of wine plus Celebrity will add a 15% gratuity charge to your bill.
As they are currently giving this package for free I would say that it is definitely worth the money and it is worth more than the gratuities which are just over £100pp on a 14 night cruise or the on board credit offer.
This promotion expires at the end of February and whilst they may drop the prices slightly then I can’t see them dropping by the cost of your average bar bill. So my advice would be to book your Celebrity cruise now whilst the drinks are free.
