I’m taking my son on his first cruise this weekend.

On Sunday my 7 year old son will be going on his first cruise and he is so excited. I have been selling cruises for more years than I can remember and during that time he has had to watch me set off on many a ship visit, without really understanding what it’s all about.

We will be sailing to Guernsey on P&O’s Oceana which is a family friendly ship and the weather is looking fantastic. My plan of action is to get on board and enjoy some lunch and then to just play in one of the two swimming pools. Milo won’t sit and sunbathe so I’ll have to have a splash about in order to work on my tan.

It’s just a two night mini cruise and on Monday we will head to the beach and walk along the coast near St Peter Port or we may catch the bus to Oatlands Village which is a family attraction with craft shops for me and trampolines, go carts, mini golf and soft play for Milo. I am looking forward to seeing his face on the tender boat as they are always good fun.

It will be strange being just the two of us but it will be nice to spend some quality time with him and to see how he enjoys cruising and hopefully in our abscence his Dad will get a few jobs done around the house.
