Are P&O are missing a trick?

I have just had a client enquiring as to the shore excursions being offered by P&O before he commits to booking a cruise. To me this seems a reasonable request, a cruise is sold as a fantastic and luxurious means of travel and the chance to see several places in the one holiday.

If you are going to ‘unpack only once and wake up in a different port each morning’ then surely it is reasonable to be able to see what is on offer each day before committing your money.  In this particular case there are some mobility issues and therefore the type of excursions available are important.

However, P&O do not consider this as important information and will only show excursion information once a cruise has been booked. Now I do understand this could be the case when a cruise is booked many months in advance – shore excursion contracts may still be being negotiated and the information not available. However once a cruise is within 6 months of departure this information is readily available and would surely help boost sales, especially to those who haven’t cruised before.

And even if the cruise is sailing in advance other people seem to be able to offer excursion information and prices. Cruising Attractions are offering excursions for P&O’s Britannia for October 2015 and yet P&O cannot tell me the excursions that they are offering on Azura next week, unless my customer has booked.

Personally I think P&O and missing a huge marketing trick by not giving excursion information they could be missing cruise sales and almost certainly are losing out on excursion bookings to competitors who are more organised.

So come on P&O – sort it out.
