Senior saved at Sea

If this was not a true story you would struggle to believe it, In fact it sounds like a seen from a comedy film or a cartoon.

It is widely reported that on Saturday evening a British Pensioner was very fortunate to be rescued at sea off the Island of Madeira. The story that leads up to it quite incredible.

Susan Brown 65 had been travelling on a 32 Night cruise onboard Marco Polo with her husband when the pair decided to cut the trip short after a row. They arrived in Madeira towards the later stages of the cruise and booked a return flight back to the UK. It is understood that they got separated in the airport and then somehow Mrs Brown thought her husband had got back on the ship. After that there seems to be confusion as to what happened next but what we do know is that Mrs Brown had seen the ship sailing past the airport and entered the sea and swam after the ship to get back onboard.

The Marco Polo Mrs Brown had been travelling on and tried to catch up too

Marco-polo

Nobody as yet knows why she did this and how long she was exactly in the water for but she was certainly in the water for hours and was incredibly lucky on two counts. Firstly she had taken her handbag into the sea with her and this eventually acted as a buoyancy aid through air trapped inside it. Secondly she was spotted and rescued by 3 local fishermen 1600 ft out to Sea. She is very lucky to be alive and was only 30 minutes away from a death due to the temperature of the sea.

When I read the full story and what we know so far I felt so sad that anyone could be in such a state of mind to think that they could catch up swimming after a ship. I also thought what if nobody had found her would anyone of known what she had done or would she just of gone to a watery grave never to be seen again.

It seems nobody knows the full story yet but I do hope that it all comes out as I for one would like to know what happened, Why did Mrs Brown do what she did? Why did Mr Brown fly home without her and why has he made no comment yet?

Have a read of the full story on the Mail online or the Mirror as it really does take some believing.

Lets hope everything has a happy ending.
