Wonderful Wedding, Fabulous Location, Glorious Weather……………

You just can’t beat a good wedding can you? A wedding is one of my favourite things, as long as it’s not mine! We had the most fantastic day early last month, one of my best friends daughters wedding, and what a wonderful day we had. Everything was just perfect, and some.

We had been looking forward to the day for over twelve months and it just couldn’t have gone any better. We were so lucky with the weather too, we couldn’t have asked for better in early October, it was warm, sunny and better than we could have hoped for.

The wedding was held at a wonderful local venue in Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, Grafton Manor, which dates back to the Norman Conquest. It is well worth ‘Googling’ as it has a long and very interesting history. The latest owners, the Morris family, bought the Manor in the 1940’s and still own it, in fact I went to school with their son Simon who became Head Chef in the 1980’s.

The wedding itself was held in the adjacent St Michael’s Chapel which is absolutely beautiful. It doesn’t even have electric lighting, it’s so quaint, the perfect location for the ceremony. We laughed and we cried, it was wonderful honestly!

The reception was held in a marquee overlooking the grounds and the lake in them, beautiful, and we dined most handsomely while being entertained by a very clever magician. Magicians aren’t usually my thing but he really grabbed my attention, and I have absolutely no idea how he did the things he did, and up so close to each table too.

Later on, we danced the night away, my friends son and i did a fabulous re-creation of the final dance routine in Dirty Dancing, although we did skip the lift!

We all love to travel the world but just sometimes the best times are those we spend with friends and family aren’t they? A family wedding is hard to beat. It is now just over 9 months until my own daughter’s wedding and I am so looking forward to it. Of course I will post plenty of photos of that day.
