Whether you’ve cruised before or you are cruising for the first time, choosing the right cruise can seem like a daunting task. It’s what you’ve been looking forward to for ages, and it’s a big investment financially so it’s important to get it right. We Cruise Specialists are ready and willing to help you, but there are a few things that you need to be able to tell us before we can.
After all, if you don’t know then it’s going to make it difficult for us to get it right. So, here goes –
When do you want to go?
You need to be fairly specific, and know that you can get the time off work. Also, do you want to go for seven, ten, or fourteen nights. If you want school holidays it is essential to book early. Triple and quad cabins sell out very quickly for school holiday periods.
What is your budget? Be realistic, and remember you have to allow for travel insurance, tips and spending money.
Where do you want to go?
Do you want sun, or culture, or scenery? Remember, ships have itineraries and they don’t always go to your preferred destination at a time to suit you.
Do you like dressing up?
If not, then you need to look at the more relaxed cruise lines.
Which type of cabin do you want? Yes, a balcony is great but if you are never in your cabin, why spend the extra.
Do you have any special requirements?
Tell us at the outset about dietary or physical needs. Most cruise lines cater for passengers with special needs very well, but we do need to let them know in advance.
Who is traveling?
If you are taking children along, we need to make sure that we choose a ships with great kids facilities. An important point to note, if you are taking your grandchilren you must tell us as some ships require a Sworn Affidavit to prove guardianship.
Big ship, little ship?
Do you enjoy lots of activities and hustle and bustle, with lots of facilities, or are you looking for relaxing peace and quiet?
The best way to get lots of information and good feedback is by reading reviews. Do bear in mind that they are opinions, and don’t let one bad review put you off a ship. Read plenty to get a good cross section. Joining a cruise forum is also a brilliant way to get lots of honest advice. There a some extremely seasoned cruisers out there who are more than happy to share their experience with other people.
