Up Pompeii!!
A visit to Pompeii is a must for anyone cruising into Naples.
Whether as part of an organised Shore Excursion or going alone, be sure to allow the whole day as there is much to see there.
If you do choose to go it alone, a taxi from the port whould cost you no more than 50 euros return. Be prepared to barter with the drivers, they will start by trying to charge about 90 euros but if you haggle hard, they will drop the price.
Be aware that there is alot of walking involved over quite rough terrain, so put some good comfortable sturdy footwear on!
As you are heading to Pompeii look to the left and see the towering Mount Vesuveus, hopefully not shrouded in cloud as it was the day I passed it!
