I suppose they must have had the same conversation that many families have had over the last few weeks – what do we fancy doing for our hol’s this summer? Fancy a cruise dear? Oh lovely idea! Then of course you have to decide which is the cruise for you – P & O, or Royal Caribbean, maybe Fred Olsen . Then where to go – the Med, Baltics, Fjords, or really push the boat out and head for the Caribbean. The decision is not an easy one for any family, so much to choose from, but is it any less difficult for the Royal Family?
Ok, so cost and budget probably isn’t much of an issue for them, but with the whole family going there are lots of different age ranges to please. The younger family members would really enjoy a rock-climbing wall or the Flow-rider, the Duke of York could be tempted by an on-board golf course, his daughters would enjoy the night-life, and Prince Philip would probably be happiest just taunting the staff on board!
Well, a decsion was obviously reached as the Queen has chartered the Hebridean Princess for the ‘princely’ sum of £300,000! Passengers who had already booked have been told that they need to choose an alternative date and have been compensated.
The ship, which used to be a car ferry, has 30 cabins and is luxurious in an old fashioned way, ideal for the Royals. It definately doesn’t have a Flow-rider!
The Royals will be doing the North Cruise from the Orkney Islands to Oban and then the Footloose to the Northern Isles.
I wonder if they are getting any On Board Credit!!
