Not just another hot flush!

Wow! Hasn’t the last week or so been amazing! There was me thinking I was in the middle of an extended hot flush, winter vest was shed, eiderdown thrown off the bed, windows flung wide and fan fully operational on my desk, all perfectly normal behaviour for a woman of my age, but it wasn’t me, it was the marvellous little February heatwave we have just been lucky enough to experience, glorious albeit very unseasonal weather for the time of year.

Talking to people the length and breadth of the country over the last week or so, the fabulous weather seems to have extended to all areas of the UK, lulling us all into a false sense of security, thinking that Spring has sprung. There have been news reports showing people in shorts and t-shirts, people sitting on beaches, pub beer gardens full, the sort of reports we usually see during the warm Summer months, and temperatures of 20+ degrees were recorded in Wales a few days ago.

All in all, it has been a wonderful little hiatus, and it has such an impact on how people are feeling, everyone I have spoken to recently has been so cheerful, and of course, being British there has been much talk about the weather, our favourite subject isn’t it! And of course it has put people in the holiday mood. We have been so busy this week with people enquiring about cruises for the Summer.

For now it seems that the lovely spell of weather is over but I have certainly made the most of it while it has lasted, in between shifts I have been out and about locally, in the very lovely County of Worcestershire, bathed in Sunshine. I popped for a coffee at The Jinny Ring, a local craft centre the other day, and then before work yesterday I took the dog for a lovely walk on Lickey Beacon which has fabulous view right across Birmingham city centre. After so many months cooped up it was lovely to be out in the fresh air and get some sun on my face.
