Lost luggage? Innovative ways to survive a cruise without it!
It must be so frustrating to lose you luggage en route to your ship. Here are a few light hearted suggestions to overcome the problem.
1. Have your steward design a special towel bikini for you.
2. Suggest a clothing optional day for the entire ship.
3. Do a Julie Andrews and make a dress from your stateroom curtains.
4. Four Coke Cards in strategic spots would make a sexy swimsuit!
5. Encourage social interaction and have fellow cruisers body paint a t-shirt and shorts for you – fun for everybody!
6. Make do, like the reality show Survivor, and use a hibiscus twig to brush your teeth.
7. I’m betting every ship has a few of rolls of duct tape lying around for emergency situations like sealing a hole in the ship, borrow a couple of rolls and make your own sandals.
8. Go with the nautical theme and design your very own boat hat made from paper.
9. Make full use of the buffet and fashion your own Bacon Belt or Bikini.
10. Cover yourself in gold body paint and tell everyone you’re dressing for the Oscars!
I promise to post a serious list of what to do if your bags have been lost soon. In the meantime if any one has any suggestions, or better still photos, do post them so we can all have a laugh.

We had the unluck that all four bags did not make it to the ship due to winter weather problems in flight operations with Lufthansa. We made it to Miami because we were shifted to a train to connect to our long-haul flight. But our bags took a few days to the next stop until we got our bags. Lufthansa was unable to ship it with the next flight. So we learn one day ahead of departure of the ship is not enough… Our first stop was George Town on Grand Cayman. From all ports we mentioned it should be the only one with a close-by airport. All other ports will occur more problems to get it from the airport to the ship. The next morning we learned that there is no chance to get the baggage so we started to spend the 400 USD Lufthansa approved for new clothes. So we bought our need for two days plus a new underwater camera. We booked for Cayman a visit in Stingray City: our swim-pants, underwater-camera cover etc. were all in the bag. Otherwise we need to cancel the tour. Once on board they were just great with CELEBRITY. The purser’s desk said: You are on vacation. We take care of everything. So we got everything we need incl. some t-shirts which made it easy to identify all other passengers with the same problem… Next day it was formal night: they gave us a tuxedo for free – they gave us express laundry for free – they were just great – angels. We asked if we should better stay on board in case and cancel our tour: once again: you are on vacation – go on your tour… once ashore our tour was cancelled due to heavy sea… so all purchases for nothing… to have an additional option to go shopping we returned by lunch and were welcomed like winners in a grand prix: everybody from the crew was waving us and said your bags are in your stateroom. When you are treated like kings like Celebrity did: I can only recommend to go naked on your next cruise. Thanks again to the great crew on CELEBRITY EQUINOX.
