I’m hot, I’m cold, I’m 50 Years Old!

So there you have it, your favourite Cruise Consultant has hit the Big 50, and what a wonderful few months it has been in the build up to last Monday. I think if I am honest, I have milked my half Century, and quite unashamedly so. I can honestly say that I don’t know anyone who has celebrated one birthday, albeit a milestone, so many times, and I have to say they have been the best of times. I am truly blessed to have such wonderful friends, family, colleagues and clients.

The celebrations started in May when four friends and I went on a four night cruise on Adventure of the Seas, three of us were celebrating our 50th birthdays and had been friends since primary school. If you haven’t read my post about our adventure on Adventure you can do so here.

My next celebration was with my lovely colleagues from cruise.co.uk. We spent a Saturday afternoon and evening in Birmingham where they took me to all the top notch places to be seen. We started off with Champagne in Selfridges Champagne Bar, followed by cocktails at Marco Pierre White’s restaurant at The Cube, followed by dinner at Jamies Kitchen before heading off to Birmingham’s Gay Quarter. It was quite apt that we visited Marco and Jamie’s restaurants as Marco has restaurants, called The White Room, on board many of the P&O ships and Jamie is opening his first ‘at sea’ restaurant on Royal Caribbeans Quantum of the Seas in 2015. Don’t miss it if you are sailing on Quantum next year, that guy knows a thing or two about good food I can assure you!

My next celebration was something of a surprise. A couple of weeks ago on Saturday 26th July I thought I was going out for a meal with my two best friends and their husbands. I was quite surprised when they blindfolded me but I went along with it, not quite sure what was going on. Anyway, long story short, when my blindfold was removed I was at Redditch United Football Club, sponsored by cruise.co.uk strangely enough, where all my friends, family and colleagues were gathered for a surprise birthday party, even old school friends were there. I have never been so shocked in all my life but we had a wonderful evening and I will treasure the memories for ever. To see how the evening went, take a look at this wonderful video that my Manager Cheryl Webb put together here – she has missed her true vocation!

As if all that were not enough, I had a lovely meal out with my parents and children on the actual day, 4th August, at a local gastropub, then on Thursday my two best friends too me to a local landmark, Chateau Impney, for afternoon tea which was wonderful. One of my friends husbands acted as chauffeur even wearing a peaked cap, and we had a bottle of Champagne en route. Another truly memorable event and more memories to treasure.

All in all, I feel that I have had a birthday to remember and I am now looking forward to whatever my Fifties has to offer. I thank everyone who has made the last few months so memorable and look forward to sharing many more happy times with you all.
