Has British Airways totally lost the plot?

We all like to think that our children are safe and secure wherever they are, there is no question about that. However, I just can’t believe the latest ‘Policy’ of British Airways. The policy is that ‘no youngsters travelling on their own or in a different row from parents are seated next to male strangers’. It has been said that the Cabin Stewards patrol the aisles before take-off checking this.

They are being sued by a Businessman who was forced to change seats with his pregnant wife, because a child he didn’t know was sat next to him! The businessman has said “I was made to feel like a criminal in front of the other passengers. It was so humiliating”.
British Airways have confirmed that a legal matter is pending but they refused to comment further. It will be interesting to hear the outcome!
So, how does this fit in with people pre-booking seats, which they can do with BA in the 24 hours before they travel? I know that people like to do this so that they can have exactly the seat they want, and I can only imagine how annoyed they are going to be when they can’t have the seat they want because a child is booked into the next seat. Oh joy! I can hardly wait for the influx of calls from irritated clients who’ve been treated to an impromtu game of ‘Musical Chairs’ at the start of a flight. I wonder what music BA will play for the game – Typically Tropical, Coconut Airways – remember that?! If BA are going to enforce this policy, how can they have people pre-booking seats? It makes a farce of the whole thing.
As if BA hasn’t got enough problems! I think they are being a bit hysterical on this one!

  1. No doubt if anything had allegedly happened to a child on a BA flight you and your fellow agents would be right up there suing the company on behalf of the child’s family! DON’T blame BA – blame crazy UK legislation (which BA have to comply with) and don’t for one minute think that BA have dreamt this one up as a little ‘fun’ pre-takeoff game. I would have thought someone with your alleged travel’experience’ would have more sense.
Looks like you are the one who has lost the plot! BTW I do not work for BA or any other airline as I do not want to come into contact with the likes of you who all think you know better!
