Today, 11 March, was a great day for Celebrity. Their newest ship, the Celebrity Eclipse, was built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Today was the day that the ship was towed from the Shipyard to Emshaven to be completed. Thanks to my Twitter friend @CelebrityUk tweets, I can show you a complete set of pictures of what it takes to get a big ship passing small spaces, like bridges. Sometimes, even train bridges had to be taken apart to make space.
Alsso thanks to Sky news for a great video of the conveyance.
This is the third Solstice Class ship Meyer Werf have built for Celebrity and the build has been progressing so well they are able to announce that she will be delivered ahead of schedule. Celebrity Eclipse will enjoy her inaugural celebrations next April, cruises from Southampton where she will be based for the entire summer season sailing to some of Europe’s best destinations.
Her maiden voyage will take place on the 29th April when she departs for a 4nt cruise to Cork. To maximise the time she is here in the UK Celebrity has introduced a new 3nt Paris Short Break* sailing departing on the 26th April. Docking in Le Havre, the new cruise will allow guests to take in the delights of the beautiful Normandy coast and “Gay Paris”. It’s a fantastic way to sample this extraordinary new ship ahead of her inaugural and we anticipate the extra sailing to be very popular.
This is where in Eemshaven the lawn will be installed, see the pictures.
