Do you need to escape the Royal Wedding?

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later. This afternoon I had what I expect will be the first of many calls on the subject. The gentleman in question said “I don’t really care where I go just so long as I am out of the country on 29th April!” It made me laugh!

Personally I just love a good Royal Wedding. I think it’s an excellent excuse for a knees up (like I need an excuse!) and I can’t wait until 29th April, but I suppose there are lots of people out there who don’t feel the same.
The bad news is that I don’t think you’ll even be able to escape it on a cruise ship. Cunard and P & O, being traditional British ships, haven’t wasted any time in announcing already that they will be showing the ceremony on all their ships. Cunard have also announced plans for a commemorative dinner during the evening with champagne to toast the happy couple. I feel that it is only a matter of time until the other cruise lines make similar announcements.
Maybe Hurtigruten will finally come into their own. I bet they won’t be screening it!
