I think that Cruise and Maritime are a bit of an undiscovered treasure really. A very small fleet of just two ships, both carrying only around 800 passengers, none of them children!
The Marco Polo, although around 40 years old is in better shape than many ships 30 years her junior, as she is constantly being refurbished. She offers traditional British cruising on a warm, welcoming and homely vessel, completely unpretentious but still tasteful. She provides well planned destination intensive cruises from her home port of Tilbury.
Meanwhile, the Ocean Countess, who began service as the much-loved Cunard Countess, is offering year round sailings from seven different British ports including Tilbury, Hull, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Leith, Greenock, Liverpool and Plymouth. Most of her itineraries are centred around Northern Europe, the Fjords and the Baltics.
Both ships offer fabulous itineraries at incredible value for money prices.
I wonder why we don’t sell more of them. Can anybody give us some feedback from personal experience? We’d love to know more about this little fleet of two. So many people of a certain age are looking for child free cruises, and maybe this would make a good alternative to P & O’s two child free ships, Artemis and Arcadia.
