Are you a fan of Regent Seven Seas?

On Thursday I went down to Southampton for my first ever visit to a Regent ship. As I have recently become a 6* cruiser – smiley face – I was really keen to see what Regent has to offer.
Regent are really popular with the British 6* market and we rarely, if ever, get negative feed back about them so my expectations were high. I already knew that their ships were ‘comfortable’ rather than stunning, and that Regent is all about the service, so what did I think?

Launched in 2003, Voyager is not showy, it is not flash, it is understated. In parts she is looking tired, although we must bear in mind that next month she is being withdrawn from service for 8 days to undergo a massive refurbishment.

The suites on board all have balconies and are well thought out – each one has a seperate dressing room and at least one loo!

The lounges and bars are full of very comfortable sofas and armchairs, making relaxing during the evening with old friends a pleasure. Repeat passengers are very common on Regent ships. On a recent cruise only 24 of the 600 passengers were new to Voyager – speaks for itself. Voyager has ‘something’.

Regent is all about the service really. I think I am right in saying that Regent has one of the highest staff to guest ratios in the industry. Guests are well and truly looked after by these attentive staff who can almost second guess what their guests want before they ask for it.

Food, we only had lunch, was top notch and beautifully served by our very attentive waiter – I could do with someone like him at home!

All in all, I wasn’t wowed I’m afraid. I found the ship to be very dated overall. I would love to be able to visit her again post-refurbishment to compare the before and after. One things for sure – they need some new carpets!!

  1. Bit unfair Hannah
I used to think that Seabourn were the greatest……… until we discovered Regent
The service , food, entertainment is superb (on all their ships)
The big plus is that you aren’t ripped off for shore excursions as Regent include them in the cruise package
