A little bit of Paradise?

Norweigan Cruise Lines started a trend when it bought its own private island, Great Stirrup Cay in 1977. Since then quite a few of the other cruise lines have followed suit, and these islands feature regularly on their itineraries.
Royal Caribbean owns Coco Cay and Labadee, Princess owns Princess Cays, Celebrity owns Catalina Island and MSC owns Cayo Levantado, to name but a few.

These islands offer a great ‘beach day’ on any itinerary with water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming along with massages in beach cabanas.

Because these islands are private you won’t be pestered by hawkers and hustlers and they do all have security so there is no fear of being mugged either as there so often is on Caribbean islands.

Idyllic as this sounds, be warned, if another ships is in the area on the same day, you may be sharing your ‘private island’ with 5000 other people enjoying a beach barbeque !
Another thing to bear in mind is that there will be extra charges for hire of water sport equipment, food, drink and ice cream.
Maybe you might be better off enjoying the peace and quiet of a relatively empty ship while everybody else visits the island?!
