Following the very sad news about the death of one of our most popular Garden Cruise hosts John Cushnie on New Years Day, we’ve all been wondering who would replace him on the Fred Olsen Black Watch cruise to the Canaries on 27th March this year.
The great news is that Tony Russell will be taking Johns place, so passengers booked in this group are still assured of an excellent cruise with a great host along side them.
This is what Tony had to say about Johns death:
” John’s death was a terrible shock. I saw him before Christmas at a do in London and he was just like he always is, full of fun, quick witted and with that wicked smile. He will be sadly missed; I did my very first Gardeners Question Time broadcast with him (and Roy) back in 2003 and John could not have been more welcoming and friendly to the ‘new kid on the block’. One of his great strengths was that he was more than just a broadcaster, he didn’t just talk about plants, gardens and gardening, he kept his ‘day job’ going too and consequently was up to date with the latest thinking and still got his hands dirty – something that I have always tried to do myself.”
John was a great favourite with passengers on our exclusive Garden Themed cruises and he will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
