Now forgive me if you think that I’m stating the obvious here, but after another long day on the phone talking to potential clients I feel the need to make a few things crystal clear. So, here in black and white (maybe a few photos thrown in) is a brief guide to cabin types.
I will try to make it as simple as I can because although most of you think that this is too simple to be true, believe you me, some people find it extremely difficult to comprehend!
INSIDE CABIN – inside means inside – are you with me so far? Inside is not outside – ok? Therefore, the inside cabin will not have a window to outside, and it will definitely not have a balcony either, and yes, it will be dark when you turn off the lights.
OUTSIDE CABIN – this will be on the outside of the ship, not the inside, and it will have portholes or a window. Although it is outside, the cabin door will lead to the inside of the ship, not to outside as you would fall in the sea. No, it will not be below water level, no cabins are below water level – ever. If you would prefer that then maybe a submarine would be the way forward for you rather than a normal cruise.
BALCONY CABIN – these cabins have a balcony and are most definitely above water level, otherwise you would get wet when sitting on you balcony.
SUITES – superior cabins or staterooms. All have windows and some have balconies, again, above water level.
Having said all of the above, there are some variations to this theme. Some ships have Promenade Inside cabins that open (door) onto a level above the Promenade of shops on the ship (Independence of the Seas). Also, the new Oasis of the Seas has Promenade Balcony cabins that overlook the Boardwalk down the centre of the ship rather than the sea, but your Cruise Consultant will advise you which view your balcony cabin has, and you will be able to choose, subject to availability.
I hope the above makes things a bit simpler for you all! If you are still in doubt, please consult me about this topic.
