Well the saga of my group getting to the Navigator of the Seas continues. The groups of 8 who managed to get a flight to Sicily phoned me from Rome last night – they had made it to the hotel!
They arrived in Trampani and got a bus to Palmero where they managed to get on another flight to Rome – minus 2 suitcases! These had never left Dublin, but Air Lingus popped them on a flight to Rome early today and cases and owners have been reunited, and then everyone was transferred to the ship. Here, I must praise Mike Bell and all the team at Driven Worldwide. I’ve never used them before and originally chose them because their prices were excellent. This last couple of days they have been brilliant – organising last minute changes to our original plan and being really flexible to help get these people from airports to hotels and railway stations, and as I say, at VERY short notice. Thanks guys, you have been brilliant and I will always make you my first port of call (excuse the pun!) when I need to arrange transfers.
The remaining 12 passengers who couldn’t get on the flight to Sicily are still in the Clarion Hotel in Dublin – at Ryanairs expense no less! Fingers crossed, they will be on a Ryanair flight at 6am tomorrow to Rome where they will be transferred (by Driven Worldwide) to the railway station to get a train to Naples where they will catch up with their friends on the Navigator – what a saga it has been. But we got them there!
I said to the lead passenger when I last spoke to her about two hours ago, would she please have a very large G & T for me when she finally got on board, and bless her, she promised to have several!!
