As I was saying the other day, problems do sometimes reach epic proportions with some people, and this lady is no exception! This is also a precautionary tale, and I have to stand up for the Thomas Cook spokesman who clearly knew what he was talking about – the name on your booking must match that on your passport.

Gambia with Thomas Cook but was told she would have to pay a fee by Cook for amending the booking because she had chosen to change her first name from Austin to Lorraine.She said: “I wasn’t angry with Thomas Cook – at first I was just a bit upset but it was just a bit of a crazy moment and I decided to do it. I think my fiancé thinks I am crazy.”
A Cook spokesman said: “Our sales consultants are trained to give the correct advice. Everybody is told that the name in the booking must match the name in the passport.”
