Sunbathing – it’s a work of art you know………….

I’m not a big ship fan, I’ve never made a secret of it and on a weekend cruise on a large family friendly ship last June this was confirmed when I found myself, on a hot and sunny afternoon, perched on a sun lounger amongst the masses around the pool with disco music blaring, kids screaming and whooping with delight as they splashed in the pool, and the overpowering waft of cheap burgers and pizzas emanating from the food servery in the corner – I lasted ten minutes before I headed off in search of peace and quiet. I found it in the adults only pool area near the spa but when I found out that to enjoy this privilege would cost me £25 I left in double quick time.

What does a girl have to do to get some R & R on a cruise? I’ll tell you – Europa 2, the lovely Hapag Lloyd ship I went on last August was the stuff that dreams were made of.

The on deck experience is second to none, there are more than enough loungers for every passenger, and the options for ‘lounging’ are endless.

However you want to chill, there is an option to suit everyone, and I must say, a great deal of thought has gone into this whole relaxation subject.

Not just your average lounger on Europa 2, oh no, and no extra charge for being in a quiet location or lying on a cabana like the more mainstream cruise lines.

Hapag Lloyd know how to look after their guests and ensure the ultimate cruise experience.

I have added in some photos of just some of the ‘relaxation modes’ available on board and I am sure you will have to agree that there is a fair selection!

Oh, and no music blaring out! Just peace, quiet, and tranquility!
