Fancy a river cruise for a change?

There is no doubt that river cruising is on the up, infact many river cruises are sold out for 2012, and 2013 is booking up already. But why are Brits in the minority on river cruises? As I may have mentioned on several occasions I have done a river cruise along the Danube and it is one of the best things I have ever done, infact for me it knocked spots off ocean cruising. I loved it!

What is it that the British public prefer about ocean cruising? After all, many of you must have covered most of the worlds oceans several times over by now, so why not try a river cruise?
The ships are smaller, quieter and more personal, the food and service are superb. There are no rough seas to worry about so no sea sickness and river cruising is virtually all-inclusive – all shore excursions, and drinks are included and tips are not expected. A more gentle pace of life you will not find I guarantee you, and it is a marvellous way to see the heart of a country rather than just dipping a toe as you do on a cruise ship.

Avalon Waterways have a great little 3 or 4 night cruise – A Taste of the Danube. This is the perfect way to try river cruising to see if it is for you You sail from Vienna to Budapest or vice versa and stop at some beautiful places along the way. Avalon offer free home pick up, flights from many regional airports, or if you don’t want to fly you can take Eurostar. All transfers are included too and you have the services of a Cruise Director for the whole trip. It is a wonderful little package, and when you consider what is included I don’t think a starting price of £1095 per person is bad at all. Many of their remaining 2012 cruises are also well worth considering for single travellers as there is NO single supplement!
Just because I’ve said it is a gentle pace of life don’t think for one moment you will be bored though, there is plenty to do if you wish.
As always I would be delighted to hear from you on 0800 408 6084
