Don’t Ask For A Bag Of Crisps On MSC

No, its not because they don’t serve Walkers or even better Monster Much on board.  But MSC if you are reading this, if you would like to add these to your ships you would make this cruiser very happy indeed.  Apparently this week though Pringles, Doritos and walkers were ranked as the top tier of crisps.  But that is a different topic all together.  Although I must say i disagree.

Back to the point in hand.  This week MSC have been in the press as 12 people have been arrested for trying to smuggle drugs on board on of their ships in sealed crisp packets.  Apparently, they were caught in a £2 million drugs bust in Madeira on board MSC Opera on her return voyage from the Caribbean.  Six of those caught included two British citizens and a Dutch national, had recently arrived on the Madeira from the UK and were due to travel on to different locations in Europe, including the UK. Four had been passengers travelling on the cruise.  All the suspects are awaiting trial in the Portuguese Courts.  Hopefully they go down for a very long time.

Some people often think that security on cruises isn’t as strict as that at airports but it just goes to show that you can get away with nothing and quite rightly so.  It makes you feel much safer knowing things like this don’t slip through the net and that the cruise lines are all watching us a lot more than we think.  So hats off to all of the agencies and police involved as well as the cruise line themselves.

Just for the record, I do think you will be safe to eat crisps next time you sail with MSC.
