What Will They Think Of Next?

What new ideas will cruise ship designers come up with next?

We have state of the art this, state of the art that, acrobats, theme parks, robots, interactive wristbands – where will it end?

We are being told by experts that we all spend to much of our time plugged into our PC’s, tablets, phones etc and that we should all detox every now and then – I don’t think there will be much chance of that if you cruise on this ship.

What would the traditionalists from the golden age of cruising think?

What made me think of this was watching a video of the new ” smart ” cruise liner from MSC – MSC Meraviglia, taking to the water for her final construction phase.

She is certainly one big baby – 5714 passengers, 2244 cabins, 14 different cabin types – there are some very impressive numbers.

She will have 2 covered promenades, water parks and a 480 square metre LED screen that works as a digital sky – what’s wrong with the normal sky I don’t know but obviously the designers didn’t think too highly of it.

One thing I would be really excited to see is the Cirque Du Soleil show that will be on board. I have previously been to their O show in Las Vegas and it was truly amazing, so the passengers on board are definitely in for a treat.

I don’t think that you will ever get bored – there are 12 dining options including an American steakhouse and a creperie. Once you have eaten there are numerous lounges and bars to enjoy.

What about the 4 swimming pools or the Balinese spa area – the options are endless.

Almost as an after thought – what about getting off in new destinations and experiencing the local culture – isn’t this what cruising is about?

I am all for new and exciting things, but aren’t we going just that bit ott?
