It looks like it will be standing room only this coming summer in Santorini.
According to statistics last year, Santorini was the most popular Greek Island visited by cruisers, 10000 per day – I am surprised it didn’t sink.
If this is one of those yet to be visited on places on your cruise bucket list – then you had better get in there fast.
It is one of the most stunning settings – the white washed typical Greek houses with their azure blue roofs – you don’t know where the roofs end and the sky starts!
But unfortunately, the popularity of this port of call has led to the local council deciding to put a limit on the number of cruise ships and visitors for 2017. There will be a limit of 8000 people per day – still a lot of people descending on this small island.
Makes you wonder what the locals will think of this idea – I am sure, what with the problems the Greek economy has faced over the past couple of years the influx of these cruise passengers has provided a much needed source of income.
What do you think of this idea? Do you agree? Have you visited Santorini on a cruise ship? If so, did you find it over crowded?
