Made To Work Like A Slave!

I have just read a horrifying piece of news concerning the ” slave like ” conditions that some MSC cruise line workers have been forced to endure whilst working on the MSC Magnifica.

MSC have denied the allegations that staff were forced to work up to 16 hours a day and were also subjected to sexual abuse. This has come to light after Officials boarded the ship in Brazil earlier this week.

These terrible accusations follow earlier criticism of the industry that were published in a report earlier this month. It referred to evidence from 2010 that found that the rights of disadvantaged groups were being frequently violated in terms of the work they were given and the salary they were paid, based on their to nationality and cultural background.

Something must be done urgently to protect the rights and welfare of these workers.  Lets just consider for a minute how much profit these cruise lines earn – they should be ashamed of their poor working practices and we should all lobby to get this treatment stopped immediately.
