If You Were Looking To Cruise Would You Book With Princess?

I have to ask myself what these “Fly On The Wall ” documentaries actually do for the travel and cruise industry.

I remember years ago watching the first few episodes of Airline – the documentary about Easyjet staff and the day to day dramas they face and thinking to myself – do I really want to spend my hard earned money with them and be treated like this? But then, when I thought about it some more, common sense kicked in and I realised that, day to day most of us have regular lives, without drama, and if a film crew were following us around it would make for some very poor viewing! So it is obvious that any tantrums and tears that happen are edited to make it seem a regular occurence.

I haven’t had the time yet to watch the first episode of the new BBC documentary focusing on The Royal Princess. I have asked a few people when I have been on the phone what they thought – and I am afraid that the majority thought it was rubbish. It all seemed to be focused on one guest, they did not show enough of the ship and its amenities etc.

Apparently, the first show attracted 3.1 million viewers! –  16% of the UK viewing public, social media channels have been hot with tweets – lots of people have had plenty to say about the programme – both good and bad. I have looked at some of the comments and they range from ” over dramatised “, ”  ineffective staff “, ” Made Princess look like Benidorm “, ” I Love Princess “.

So what do you think? To me – read between the lines – take the programme for what it is – a docu soap that does make a drama out of a crisis.
