Well having just returned from our Christmas Conference on board Cunard’s Queen Mary 2, I definitely feel as though I walked 500 miles – I know, slight exaggeration, but I was shocked to look at my phone and see that I had walked just over 12500 steps last Saturday. Now coming from someone that works from home and some days so busy with work that I would be hard pushed to make it to 500 steps – I felt pretty smug. It was then pointed out that the previous evening I had not only enjoyed a stunning dessert but had also devoured a lovely selection of cheeses.
Queen Mary 2 is a fantastic looking vessel. I have not sailed on her before and was amazed at the history and grandeur on board. She is truly stunning. As it this time of year, the display of gingerbread houses and the Christmas trees were lovely and gave the cruise a real festive air.
However, there are a few disappointments – the service I had a couple of times in the main dining room at breakfast, my sauteed potatoes arrived as I had finished my breakfast and I am still waiting for the scrambled eggs! The prices on board for a glass of wine – a simple Chardonnay just over 13 USD including gratuity – pretty pricey in my opinion, the cabin – interior was good but the sheltered balcony had paint peeling away from it and just looked a bit shabby.
To sum up – we had a great time and I really did like Queen Mary and I am hoping to book a Transatlantic crossing for myself and family for late next year, so as you can see my couple of little whinges are really nothing in the bigger picture. Just next time I might take a pair of roller boots or a segway to get around the ship.
