Carnival Sails Into Cuba

History was created on the 01 May as the 1^st US Cruise ship to arrive in Cuba in 50 years! Carnival Fathom took to the seas from Miami and headed to Havana, I have been lucky enough to sail into Havana on Airtours Sundream and I have to say it was one of the most amazing places I have been, the culture and history oozes from this city,

Once you get into the back streets of Havana you see how people live in falling down buildings, vintage cars round the streets it is just amazing to see and the city has such a buzz and feel, I had been in touch with a charity in the UK and they said the schools needed pens, paper and notes books, we got an extra suitcase and the airline allowed us to take it free of charge so we could take it to a local school in the City, we went to the school  a 10 minute drive from the port and where treated like royalty by the local people and school children just because we gave them basic things that we take for granted every day, these children have nothing yet I have never seen so many happy faces and to this day still brings a tear to my eye, I would love to go back and take my children to appreciate the things we take for granted every day,

Its such good news for the locals for more tourism, the only thing that does concern me is that the US get in and take over and change the city and make it commercial, I have cruised into many ports and Cities but Havana for me is one of the most amazing experiences I have had and would say to anyone to go and experience this amazing city you will not be disappointed,
