P&O shows off her new Union Jack livery after a 32 million pound refit. Aurora left Southampton on Friday night dressed in her new Union Jack livery she is the first ship in the P&O fleet to receive the red white and blue design on her bow.
To paint the world’s biggest Union Flag, the crew used 280 litres of red paint, 40 litres of dark red, 80 litres of blue and 20 litres of dark blue. More than 160 litres were used to imprint P&O’s logo on the bow.
The 20 day refit took 1200 contractors in Hamburg, More than three miles of pipework were replaced, 300,000 sq. ft. of new carpet laid, and 3,000 new mattresses were brought in for passengers and crew.
Originally launched in 2000 by Princess Anne, the ship now has a Sindhu restaurant, with an eastern-fusion menu overseen by Michelin-star chef Atul Kochhar, and a Glass House restaurant and bar with wines selected by TV presenter Olly Smith.
You have to admit she looks fantastic and make her stand out from the crowd and can’t wait to see all the other ships dawned with this new logo.
