I was lucky enough to be invited onto the famous British Pullman last week hosted by Azamara; the journey took us from Victoria to Kent coast.
One word amazing, it was a murder mystery event as well, The train was simply beautiful elegant and grand everything you imagine this famous train to be, you are greeted by waiting staff who showed you to your carriage we were seated in the oldest carriage IBIS it was built in 1925, it was then shipped across the channel and later used for the Orient Express from Milan and Venice, it was then transferred back to England, it was rebuilt for the Golden Arrow and served from 1930-1952 it then was part of the special Cunard boat train between Victoria to Southampton she was retired in 1968 and was preserved at Standard Gauge Stream Trust,
The carriages are just beautiful and as soon as you sit down we were greeted with champagne and canapes, also you are served a 5 course meal on board, the murder mystery event was very good and different characters passing the cabins telling a story and you have to make notes with the clues they give you lucky we came second in the guessing who done it,
Azamara are looking at bringing the Pullman as part of the no fly option to meet your Cruise in Venice, so you will be taking from Victoria down to the coast to cross the channel and the in France board the sister train Orient Express down to Venice, your luggage will be taking from you at Victoria and will be waiting for you in your Hotel in Venice, which just sounds the most amazing way to start your holiday, more details on this will follow when the programme is realised,
The journey on the train is beautiful passing through the Kent coast and countryside and is a very grand way to travel I would highly recommend this and would love to try this again when it comes into partnership with Azamara
