Norwegian Cruise Line will launch its brand new Ship Norwegian Escape in juts under a years’ time, this will be the largest ship to sail year round from Miami.
Norwegian Cruise Line has just announced that Miami’s oldest and most legendary bar Tobacco Road will have a new home on board this brand new ship. Tobacco Road was founded in 1912 and was the holder of Miami’s first liqueur licence and up until last week when it closed its doors for the last time was in the original location. Almost everyone who has lived in Miami for some time has stories of good times spent at the Road. Clients have included all types — bikers, labourers, politicians and the well-groomed professionals of Brickell. They’ve all enjoyed listening to incredible music there while sharing a drink. Unfortunately, it is another victim of the developer frenzy engulfing downtown Miami.
Located within 678 Ocean Place, the new location of the celebrated tavern will incorporate elements of the original Tobacco Road, including the iconic neon sign, memorabilia and photographs that will showcase the history of Miami through the lens of events and happenings at the bar over the past century.
In addition to favourite beers and spirits, Tobacco Road Bar on board Norwegian Escape will also feature a selection of cocktails created by Tobacco Road’s resident mixologist, Leo Holtzman. The delicious libations from Holtzman’s Cocktail Collection will include favourites like the Chili Mule, featuring ginger puree, Cointreau and vodka topped with a sliced seranno pepper; and the Gateway, a rum-based drink that incorporates your juice, elderflower syrup and Prosecco.
I have been lucky enough to go to this iconic venture a few years ago and have to admit was an amazing experience and I am so pleased that such an iconic bar has been featured on such an amazing ship and has the history of Miami on board which will be her home and hopefully I get the chance to go on her and see.
