Which as it turns out this exquisite manor house is not only reserved for Royalty.
Viking cruise-lines are actually offering a bespoke land tour extension from 2021 named the “Great Homes, Gardens & Gin experience” available on all Viking’s Rhine Getaway and British isles Explorer itineraries.
This extension which I am super excited by offers Vikings customers the chance to have a privileged access tour of Highclere Castle, the main filming location of the famous period drama. It is currently home of Earl and Countess of Carnarvon as well as visits to Broughton Castle (home of the Fiennes family and current filming location for “Wolf Hall” Chavenge House shot to fame in Poldark Highgrove House the private home of Charles Prince of Wales and The Bombay Sapphire Distillery perfect for those big on the Gin movement.
Viking said directly partnering with the new movie makes perfect sense as the demographic of customer we have love shows like Downton Abbey and it makes an exciting extension tour visiting some of the most famous and finest homes in The UK.
Personally although this is a fantastic move for UK tourism I actually think it will be a hugely popular tour from the international market. Americans have been huge fans of Downton Abbey since its launch almost 10 years ago and the Royal Weddings within the past decade has done wonders for the appeal for the architecture of The UK’s finest regal buildings.
What are your thoughts on this, are Viking ahead of the trend here with their country manor house visit excursions and why has it taken so long for a land tour of the UK’s finest regal manor houses set to be very popular on the 2021 itineraries.
